PESHAWAR, Feb 15: Asif Ali Zardari, spouse of the former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, has said the regional political situation will decide the fate of future political arrangement in Pakistan.

Speaking to newsmen at the Attock Accountability Court here on Friday, he said the entire South Asian region was passing through a turmoil. Armed forces of India and Pakistan were flexing their muscles for another war, Afghanis-tan was still struggling for an elusive peace, and Iran had been put on the ‘evil axis’, he added.

Mr Zardari was escorted by the Punjab police from Rawalpindi to the Attock Fort to appear before the accountability court in a pending case of assets.

Commenting on President Musharraf’s US visit, he said it was no more than a public relationing (PR) exercise as he was not invited to speak to the joint session of the US Congress.

To a question, he said Benazir Bhutto’s US tour had nothing to do with Musharraf’s visit as she had planned it three months ago.
