Rally to protest killing of Afghans

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Oct 18: Activists of religious parties on Thursday took out a rally on the call of the Jamaat-i-Islami to protest against the killing of innocent Afghan people.

The rally, participated in by activists of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, SSP, Islami Jamiat Tulaba and Jamiat Tulaba Islam, commenced from Pakistani Chowk (Mochi Gate) and culminated at the Traffic Chowk.

Speakers condemned the Musharraf government and the US-led forces’ attack on Afghanistan.

The protesters also chanted slogans against newly-elected district Nazim Jamal Leghari for imposing section 144 to foil anti-government rallies.

Those addressed the rally included JI district amir Rasheed Ahmed Khan, JI backed district assembly members Usman Farooq and Abu Bakkir, JUI’s Maulana Abdul Aziz and IJT’s Faisal Abdullah.
