HARIPUR, Oct 20: At least 2,000 inmates of the central prison in Haripur were vaccinated against Hepatitis B here on Thursday.
The vaccination was carried out on the directives of the MMA provincial government under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Haripur Prison Malik Fakhr-i-Alam Khan, medical superintendents Jail Dr Daud, Dr Tariq and Dr Seema Akhtar.
The medical teams visited different wards and cell of women and men prisoners and administered vaccine to 2,000 inmates.
Speaking to the prisoners on the occasion, SSP Malik Fakhr-i- Alam said that the prison department was making all out efforts to protect the prison population from the diseases.
However, he urged the prisoners to observe prescribed safety codes of health department, particularly in the case of hepatitis B & C, so that the spread of such lethal diseases could be controlled.
SHOT DEAD: A young man was shot dead allegedly by his cousin over a property dispute at village Malikyar here on Thursday evening. Police said Amjad, 20, son of Fazal Elahi, was attacked with a pistol allegedly by his cousin Imran.
