KARACHI: Rallies held to mark Al-Quds Day

KARACHI, Oct 20: Like other parts of the country, Al-Quds Day rallies were organised in the city to express solidarity with Palestinian Muslims and liberation of Al-Quds from the occupation of Israel.

The rallies were organised by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Imamia Students Organisation and Shia Ulema Council.

The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the US and Israel aggression.

They were also waving flags of Hizbollah and portraits of Hasan Nasrullah and Hammas Before termination of the rallies, speakers called Ummah to come forward for the freedom of Quds from the custody of the Zionist state.

The rally organised by the MMA was held after Friday prayers outside Jamia mosque, Binnori Town which was addressed by Prof Ghafoor Ahmad, Hafiz Hussain Ahmad, Abdul Haleem Ghauri, Allama Nazir Abbas and Nasrullah Shaji.

The ISO rally started from the mausoleum of Quad-i-Azam and culminated after marching through MA Jinnah Road to the Regal Chowk. About 4,000 people, including 1,000 women, marched through the busy artery. Hundreds of people carried portraits ofAyatollah Khomeini, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hassan Nasrallah.

Addressing the protesters at Regal Chowk, Ulema urged all the communities to forge unity among their ranks against their common enemy.

“The day for liberation of al Quds is near,” Senator Abbas Komaili said.

Later, the protesters burnt US and Israeli flags.

It may be recalled here that Imam Khomeini had declared the last Friday of Ramazan as al-Quds Day to show the importance of Jerusalem to Muslims.
