KARACHI, Oct 20: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association condemned Sindh Secretary Education Subhagu Khan Jatoi for victimising teachers by transferring them irrationally, saying several senior teachers were deprived of promotions.

According to a statement issued by SPLA president Prof Syed Riaz Ahsan, Prof Liaquat Aziz Solangi, Prof Manzoor Hussain Chishti and Prof Mirza Athar Hussain, the Sindh education secretary misusing his powers, had ordered appointment of a BPS-18 teacher as principal of the college in place of an associate professor of BPS-19, which was not only illegal but also beyond his powers.

They alleged that the secretary had started transfers of teachers and officials in the name of eradication of corruption but in fact corruption had increased due to his steps.

The SPLA alleged that on July 18, 2006 a junior lecturer was promoted illegally on receiving heavy sum of money from her although she was an absconder for the last four years. They demanded immediate measures to curb financial as well as administrative embezzlements.—PPI
