MARDAN, Oct 11: Bacillus of Calmette and Guérin, BCG, and administered to new-born babies to vaccinate them against tuberculosis, has gone out of stock in almost all hospitals in the Mardan district, creating concern among parents, it is learnt.

The vaccine is not available in more than 100 Basic Health Units, Rural Health Centres and the District Headquarters Hospitals, Mardan.

Sources said that BCG is not even available in the city markets for the last 12 days and in rural areas for the last three months. An EPI (Expanded Programme on Immunisation) official, talking to this correspondent, said the vaccine was also not available in Peshawar.
