GUJRAT, Oct 5: Three stepbrothers of former adviser to chief minister Naeem Raza made an abortive attempt on the life of his younger brother Shahid Raza, nazim of Kotla Arab Ali Khan union council, Wednesday night.
Kotla police had lodged an FIR against Asif, Tanvir and Shabbir and others on Naeem’s plaint.
He said in the FIR that his stepbrothers opened fire on Shahid over a family dispute.
The late Chaudhry Abdul Malik who was murdered by Doian and Bhooch family had seven sons from three wives. One of his sons Abdul Khaliq was murdered in early 1990s by rivals. Naeem and Shahid are brothers while Abid,
Tanvir, Shabbir and Asif are brothers.
Sources privy to the family said a dispute started over share of power. The family had an old enmity with former Gujrat tehsil nazim Ghulam Sarwar Bhooch which claimed the lives of more than 100 people from both sides. In almost all the attacks conducted by the Kotla group, Abid, Asif and Tanvir fought from the forefront.
They said the brothers were also interested in politics and wanted their ‘share’. This led to a family dispute.
