Balochistan university’s new fees structure

QUETTA, Feb 13: The University of Balochistan has decided to revise its fees structure, including hostels charges, from the next academic year to meet the increasing expenditures of the university.

The decision has been taken by the university syndicate, the vice-chancellor of the university, M. A. Rashid, said, while speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday.

Being a member of the task force on higher education and on the instructions of the University Grants Commission, the university would have to meet its day-to-day expenses, he added.

The revised structure of fees is as follows: MA/MCom/MEd/MPA/MLSc Rs5,200 per annum, MSc Rs7,600 per annum, DLSc Rs4,900 per annum, B. Pharmacy Rs9,500 per annum, degree in Fine Arts Rs8,800 per annum, PGDCS Rs8,900 per annum and MCS Rs10,000 per annum.

Mr Rashid said hostel room charges were being raised from Rs12 to Rs400 per month. He added that the university paid electricity bills of over Rs1.4 million and gas bills of Rs600,000.

He said the university had created an endowment fund of Rs1.5 million for the needy students. He hoped that local councils and Zakat committees all over the province would finance the needy, but bright students.
