Laiq, Shoaib share eight wickets

LAHORE, Sept 27: A fine century by Ali Abbas failed to save Lahore from a 34-run defeat at the hands of Multan in the Inter-region under-19 cricket championship at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Ali Abbas hit 100 off 132 balls with 13 fours and shared the opening stand of 116 with Ahmed Shahzad (40).

In another match played at the LCCA ground, Lahore Ravi suffered one-wicket defeat against Sialkot.

Batting first, Lahore Ravi managed to score 216 in 49.5 overs. Junaid Malik hit 71 with six boundaries.

In reply, Sialkot achieved the target in 49.3 overs for loss of nine wickets.

Zaman Jamil scored 66 with seven fours and one six.

Four wickets each by leg-spinners Mohammad Laiq and Shoaib Shah helped Faisalabad inflict a 126-run defeat over Hyderabad at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.

Shoaib gave away 13 runs and Laiq 16 runs to destroy the Hyderabad batting line-up for 91 runs in 32.4 overs while chasing a target of 217.
