KARACHI, Sept 22: The dream of restoration of democracy, upholding of people's rights and an end to feudalism and military dictatorship could not be realized till the imperialist forces were ousted from Pakistan for good, said speakers of a demo against Balochistan operation and presence of US bases, here on Friday.
The demo was organized by the Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) in front of Karachi Press Club.
Addressing the demo, CPP secretary-general Comrade Khadim Thahim said that Pakistani people had been braving oppression and violence for the last 57 years, and the working classes were the chief victim of these brutalities.
He said rulers had made this country a prison for the oppressed people and a torture cell for workers due to their partnership with imperialist forces, especially the United States in the so-called war on terror.
He said the multinational companies had unleashed to loot and plunder resources of this country. The US wanted to capture oil and gas resources of Balochistan and in this mission they had got full support of present rulers, he said, alleging: “On the one hand, they have been provided bases in Jacobabad, Gwadar, Pasni and Dalbandin and on other, a network of cantonments was being spread in Balochistan to suppress local people.”
CPP Sindh chapter’s secretary-general Comrade Rauf Korai said labourers of Sindh would stand side by side with workers of Balochistan for struggle of their basic rights.
Baloch leader Comrade Aslam Bangulzai observed that presently Balochistan was reflecting a scene from colonialism age and whoever dared speaking for his rights was either gunned down or kept in detention.
Comrade Bacha Gul, leader of Pakistan Awami Party, said the Americans would fail to acquire Balochistan’s natural treasures.
Trade union leader Comrade Sher Nawab said only unity among workers was the key to root out imperialism.
The gathering unanimously demanded complete autonomy to provinces and said that rights of workers on natural resources be accepted.
Condemning the Balochistan operation, it was demanded that those involved in the killing of Nawab Bugti be apprehended and brought before courts. In another resolution, it was demanded that the US military bases in Pakistan be ended.-—PPI
