KARACHI, Sept 4: Parliamentarians belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Monday demanded high-level inquiry into the ‘murder’ of Nawab Akbar Bugti by Supreme Court judges, and slated the government’s decision of not handing over his corpse to his family members.

In a statement issued here, they opposed the use of force against Baloch people who were struggling for their rights as equal citizens of Pakistan. They emphasised the need for resolving the issue through dialogue instead of using brute force to suppress the struggle for rights.

Due to the use of force, the people of Balochistan had been further alienated, they said, adding that killing Nawab Akbar Bugti and burying his body without letting his relatives even to have the last glimpses of his body or laying him to rest at a place of their choice, would foment the hatred among the people of that province against the rulers. This could be dangerous to the country’s integrity.

The MQM legislators flayed the government for going against the Islamic values and Sharia vis-à-vis the funeral of Akbar Bugti.
