Police remained on a high alert across the city but the situation was the worst in parts of Lyari and Pak Colony where police clashed with protesters and exchanged gunshots.
Two persons, later identified as Arif and Shah Dost, were wounded during an exchange of fire between protesters and the police in Pak Colony. They were taken to a hospital.
Protesters blocked the main road of Pak Colony as they erected barricades and pelted vehicles with stones. Some elements ransacked a petrol station.
Heavy deployment of police and paramilitary troops was made to maintain law and order in Pak Colony in view of Monday’s clashes in which two policemen were wounded. Despite the heavy presence of law enforcers, the area remained disturbed throughout the day. The law enforcers managed to bring the situation under control after the sunset.
In Lyari, clashes between police and agitators took place at various points.
Due to the law and order problem in Lyari, transport was unavailable and people could not reach their workplaces. All educational institutions, shops and markets remained closed and residents were anxiously waiting for a pause in violence and opening of shops so they could buy milk, vegetables and other grocery items.
A fierce clash between protesters and police took place at Chakiwara Chowk, where protesters pelted law enforcers with stones. Firing in the air also echoed in the locality but no one was reported injured in firing there. The hide-and-seek between the protesters and the police continued all the day. The agitating people raised slogans against the government action in Balochistan, killing Nawab Akbar Bugti.
Aath Chowk was another spot where agitating people and police confronted each other. Police lobbed teargas shells to disperse the mob, in return the protesters pelted the police with stones.
The law and order situation was more or less the same on Sheedi Village Road and near Juna Masjid.
Besides, groups of youths appeared on Dalmia Road, Chandio Village in Gizri, Faqir Colony in Baldia, and in some parts of Malir, blocked roads, lit bonfires, and pelted vehicles with stones. However, the police reached the troubled spots and controlled the situation.
