KARACHI, Aug 23: Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that the city's Master Plan will not only identify the present day requirements of 17 million people but is being prepared keeping in view the welfare and needs of the coming generations, besides being helpful for investment here.
He was talking to a delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) which met him at his office here on Wednesday. EDOs Finance and Revenue were also present.
The ADB delegation comprised its principal project specialist Xiaoyan Yo and assistant project analyst, social sector Central and West Asia, Mila-o-Pampolina, and is currently on a visit here in connection with US dollar 400 million worth mega projects.
The Nazim said the preparation of the master plan is among priorities of city district government and work on it is fast progressing.He said that the master plan would prove helpful for investment by international finance agencies.He referred to a briefing given to President, Prime Minister, Governor, Chief Minister and Planning Commission on the master plan and said they all liked it.
The Nazim desired that the ADB delegation should also be given a briefing on master plan so as to have its cooperation for CDGK's development projects and city's infrastructure.
Mustafa Kamal informed that the city government has started work on a study for coordinated system of rainwater drainage which is the city's dire need.
He told the delegation that in the light of decision taken in his meeting with Mayor of Shanghai during his visit to China, a delegation of experts is due here next month to assist the city government on mega projects.
The Nazim stated that city government has started fast track work on the development of city's infrastructure.
The delegation extended ADB’s cooperation to the city government for its mega projects.—APP
