KARACHI, Aug 22: Police on Tuesday claimed that they had resolved the murder mysteries of PPP leader Munawwar Suharwardy and inspector Zeeshan Kazmi and a dozen cases of kidnapping for ransom following the arrest of two suspects from different parts of the city on Tuesday.
Giving details at a press conference City Police Chief Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui said that a police team comprising Anti-Violent Crime Cell arrested an accused identified as Ashiq Hussain Khoso from Landhi.
Police seized a Kalashnikov and a car (ADW-355) from his possession, during interrogation the accused disclosed the whereabouts of his accomplice identified as Nehal Khan Talani from Kharadar, CCPO added.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed that acting on the instructions of the Shoaib Khan, they killed Zeeshan Kazmi after calling him at the office of Shoaib Khan in DHA on Oct 15, 2003. And they later disposed of the body at PECHS, the CCPO added.
On July 17, 2004, they confessed killing Munawwar Suharwardy to avenge the killing of Ali Sonara, the CCPO said.
The city police chief said that in addition the two accused were involved in 12 kidnapping for ransom cases registered at different police station of the city.
Both had a head money of Rs.5million each, announced by the Sindh government.

Inspector Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah accompanied by ASI Sarwar Sultan raided successfully the den of Shahenshah alias Chowr, situated at Katrik Road in limits of Brigade Police Station and arrested the culprit.
Police also recovered a movie camera, DVD player, electric generator, Juki machines, 12 TV sets and Special Saving Certificates of worth hundreds of thousands rupees.
According to initial interrogation, the arrested culprit disclosed that he had been committing robberies for last 14 years and never apprehended in past. Further investigation is in progress.
