MULTAN, Aug 21: Another 90 patients suffering from gastroenteritis have been admitted to emergency ward of the Nishtar Hospital during the last 72 hours. Hospital sources said 103 patients were brought to the emergency ward. Of them, 13 were discharged after necessary medication and 90 seriously-ill patients were admitted to the hospital.
Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) said none casualty due to gastroenteritis has so far been reported during this period.
Executive District Officer (health) Dr Fazal Mahmood said the problem was caused due to polluted water from hand pumps.
He said at least 1,000 villagers were vaccinated against typhoid and cholera, adding that patients in serious condition were referred to the Nishtar and Children Hospital Complex for proper care and treatment.
He said two emergency medical camps have been established in the village to cope with the situation, adding that an ambulance was also provided for bringing serious patients to the city. — APP
