HYDERABAD, Feb 11: A meeting between the representatives of the Sindh University and the colleges affiliated with the university held here on Monday has taken serious notice of the non-availability of qualified teaching staff in the affiliated colleges and decided that the colleges would provide lists of the teaching staff to the university.

The meeting resolved that the colleges would follow laws about employment of qualified teachers including 50 per cent teaching staff on regular basis.

The vice chancellor, University of Sindh, Mr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, stressed upon the colleges to follow the instructions and rules and regulations of the university strictly.

He said that the students must be imparted quality education to enable them to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

The VC emphasised upon the colleges not to compromise under any circumstances over the standard of education.

He said that the colleges were also an integral part of the university and they should follow the laws of affiliation.

The meeting discussed a 12-point agenda including a uniform policy for schedule of admissions and examinations in the colleges and other matters.

The meeting constituted a 7-member committee comprising three members from private affiliated colleges and four members from the university including director admissions, controller of examinations, inspector of colleges, and deputy registrar (general and academic) who will assist the colleges to prepare uniform policy for the schedule of admissions and conduct of examinations.

It decided that the colleges would intimate the university about the date of admissions and closing date and would also provide the lists of admitted candidates to the university after the completion of the admission process.

The affiliated colleges were advised to include the nominees of the university on their board of governors and selection boards as per laws of affiliation.
