HYDERABAD, Aug 6: About 30 per cent rail traffic is still originating from and terminating at the Hyderabad railway station, instead of Karachi.

Pakistan Railways authorities said that complete restoration of rail operation from Karachi could not take place because they were checking compactness of the alternative route between Ran Pathani and Dhabeji railway stations.

Till Sunday, no goods train was allowed to pass through the alternative track that was put in place to ensure diversion of rail traffic.

The divisional superintendent of the Pakistan railways said that the trial of goods train would be carried out on Monday.

He rejected a report which said that the rail operation had again been suspended through the alternative route because of some problems.

He said that only 70 per cent trains were being run from Karachi and it was to avoid congestion of traffic on diversion.
