ISLAMABAD, Aug 5: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Coordinator on Foreign Affairs Mohammad Mehdi met with diplomats of Germany, UK and China and apprised them of the party position on various national and international issues, a source told Dawn on Saturday.
According to the source, the PML-N office-bearer met newly- appointed German Deputy Head of Mission Ina Lepel and discussed political matters with her.
Mr Mehdi also called on British Deputy High Commissioner Simon Butt and Chinese Political Attache Wang Zheng and apprised them about the forthcoming elections in the country.
The PML-N official told the diplomats that if the foreign countries wanted free, fair and transparent elections in Pakistan, they should ask the government to allow the return of popular leadership back to the country to take part in the election campaign.
He said all the players should be provided level playing field to minimise the chances of pre-poll rigging.
Mr Mehdi also apprised the diplomats about President Gen Musharraf’s partial attitude which was evident from the fact that he had been presiding over the meetings of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League and even participating in the public meetings.
Moreover, he told the diplomats that Gen Musharraf was openly asking the people to vote for the PML.
