DADU, July 20: Heavy contingents of Pakistan Rangers have been deployed along the Dadu canal, Johi branch and Warah branch to check theft of irrigation water by influential landlords of Dadu district.
According to reports, a team led by chief engineer looking after the right side of Sukkur Barrage, and Atta Mohammad Soomro, superintending engineer western Sindh circle Larkana, Ghulam Hyder Qureshi and DSP Rangers Asghar Hussain, jointly launched an operation against water thieves at Johi branch and found that 23 watercourses/modules had been tampered with. The team sealed the watercourses under the Irrigation Act 1879.
