SIALKOT, July 20: Electricity supply remained suspended for 28 consecutive hours in Islampura Nisbat Road industrial and residential area of Daska city after its sole low-capacity transformer broke down on Wednesday afternoon.
Almost all business activities remained badly affected because of the power suspension.
Area people, including traders, strongly protested against the power suspension in hot and humid conditions and accused Gepco officials of slackness and negligence.
However, power supply was restored on Thursday evening on intervention of Gepco Gujranwala region chief-executive Brig Saifullah Khalid.
ACCIDENT: Senior lawyer Muhammad Afzal Mughal was killed in a car-bus collision near Ranjhai on Daska-Gujranwala Road here on Thursday.
Three women and two children sustained injuries in the accident. They were referred to Lahore General Hospital due to their critical condition. Daska police are investigating.
