PESHAWAR, July 20: A former PAF serviceman, allegedly picked up by an intelligence agency 19 months ago on charges of being a member of a militant outfit, has been handed over to police in the Northern Swat district.

Police produced the man, Mohammad Zaheer, in the anti-terrorism court on July 17 seeking his remand in a bank robbery case in which he was arrested in December 2004.

Mr Zaheer’s family members said the ATC in Swat had remanded him in policy custody for three days.

They said that on Wednesday, he was again produced in the court of a judicial magistrate which recorded his statement in connection with the bank robbery and sent him to the Timergarah (Lower Dir) prison.

The ATC will resume trial in the case on Aug 1.
