DECISION CRITICIZED: The Defence Association Coordination Committee has decided to launch a joint struggle against the National Reconstruction Bureau for ignoring devolution plan in 57 cantonments in Pakistan.
This decision was taken by the DACC on Friday which considered the decision of the NRB to exclude cantonments from the devolution plan.
Expressing dismay over the attitude of the NRB, the meeting decided to call on five cantonment residents of Karachi to join hands in the struggle for their civic rights.
The committee also criticized the city Nazim for his failure to represent the residents of five cantonments in the city during his meeting with President Gen Pervez Musharraf.
The DACC also criticized the issuance of dozens of route permits by the Sindh government due to which mini-buses had been ”let loose on various roads in Defence creating problems by rash driving resulting in increasing accidents”.
“No provision for the traffic police has been made as a result of which buses can be seen parked everywhere, at times in the middle of the road,” the meeting observed.
BANNED: The city Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, has enforced section 144 of CrPC banning the setting up of temporary markets of sacrificial animals in the city, other than at officially-designated places, adds APP.
The order will come into force with immediate effect and shall remain effective for seven days provided withdrawn/modified earlier.
The order has been issued in view of the fact that unauthorized/illegal markets of sacrificial animals crop up at various places in the city and in its outskirts on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha causing traffic jams and insanitary conditions.
