RAWALPINDI: The All-Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association has demanded the government review the current policy of fixing prices of petroleum products on a weekly basis and revived the fortnight basis routine.
Association’s Vice Chairman Noman Ali Butt wrote a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. While pointing out the complications and problems arising from the current policy, he said the petrol filling station operators had serious reservations about the current policy.
“The current practice of revising petroleum prices on a weekly basis has created significant operational and financial instability for fuel station owners. Frequent price fluctuations are not only disrupting business planning but are also causing severe complications in inventory management, cash flow stability and customer handling,” he said.
He added that this system places an unnecessary and continuous burden on owners, making it increasingly difficult to sustain operations efficiently. Moreover, constant price changes contribute to market uncertainty and negatively impact public confidence.
He urged the government to revise the current mechanism and shift from weekly price adjustments to a fortnightly revision cycle.
“This change will provide much-needed stability, improve operational efficiency and create a more balanced environment for both dealers/owners and consumers,” he said.
