SUKKUR: A police team rescued an 11-year-old Christian girl after an encounter with her kidnappers in the Kot Shahu area of Shikarpur on Saturday.

She was abducted in Peshawar and taken to Kot Shahu for ransom, the police said.

Shikarpur SSP Mohammad Kaleem Malik said that a dacoit, Abdul Waheed alias Mullan, was shot dead during an intelligence-based action taken to rescue the girl.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar appreciated the Shikarpur police for their successful action.
