KARACHI, June 23: The Sindh Employees' Social Security collected Rs70.23 million in May 2006 under the head of Social Security Contribution, indicating an increase of Rs1.9 million against the target set for the month.

This was stated at a monthly reviewing meeting of the Sindh Employees' Social Security Institute held on Friday with Rasool Bux Phulpoto, commissioner of SESSI in the chair.

SESSI had set a target of collecting Rs845.3 million for fiscal year of 2005-06, out of which Rs716.1 million was already collected during the period from July 2005 to May 2006. The number of registered workers remained 0.334 million during the last month.

Speaking on the occasion, the SESSI commissioner said all resources would be utilised to achieve the required target.

The meeting was told that more industrial and trade organizations were registered now, so that better medical facilities and financial assistance could be provided to their workers.

The commissioner expressed his satisfaction over the surplus recovery. Regarding medical services of SESSI, it was said that

0.165 million patients reported at OPDs of medical centres of the Social Security and 10,334 patients were referred to specialists while 284 major operation were carried out at SESSI hospitals.—PPI
