KARACHI: Commerce Minister Fazlur Rahman assured the people of Bharat on Tuesday [Feb 27] that Pakistan is anxious to meet their needs “to the extent of our ability”. Welcoming “India back to normal trading relations with Pakistan, which had been interrupted by her refusal to recognise the settled relation between the two rupees”, the Commerce Minister said …: “I am sure India has a big part to play” in Pakistan’s foreign trade. “In our view, which is endorsed by knowledgeable Indian commentators, the Pakistan rupee has justified itself,” observed Mr Fazlur Rahman.

[As reported by news agencies in Pusan,] Seoul’s municipality-in-exile was reported … to have initiated plans for a new Korean capital to be built south of the Han river to replace the ancient capital, which has been badly battered in eight months of war. The industrial suburb of Yong-dungpo would be the centre of the new capital under these plans.

Seoul’s Municipal Office set up a Capital Reconstruction Committee recently, which will hold its first meeting on Tuesday [Feb 27] to hear technicians on water-supply, public works, electricity and architecture.
