GUJRANWALA, June 12: The sanitation system of Ghakkhar Town has been in a shambles since almost all sanitary workers have been sent to Ahmadnagar Town for cleanliness some five days.

Reports said the mother of National Assembly’s Kashmir Committee chairman Hamid Nasir Chattha and grandmother of Gujranwala Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha died at Ahmadnagar.

The Ghakkhar Town Administration was asked to send sanitary workers there for cleanliness due to the visit of high profile personalities for condolence. The town officers complied the order and stayed there along with the sanitation staff for four days. As a result of which the Ghakkhar Town is littered with heaps of garbage.

Sources said sanitary workers were allegedly taken to Ahmadnagar for wheat harvesting of some influential people.

Residents of Ghakkhar Town have demanded appointment of separate sanitation staff at Ahmadnagar, Wazirabad, Sodar and Alipur Chattha.
