RAWALPINDI, June 8: The federal capital has been placed on high alert following intelligence reports that terrorists may be planning to attack Chinese nationals and installations.

“We will take all possible measure to deal with any possible threat and armed police contingents will be deployed at all sensitive installations in Islamabad,” a senior officer said, adding: “Although it is not possible to provide security to every individual, they (Chinese nationals) have been asked to move in groups and take security cover during their movement in Islamabad.”

He said that all key installations and foreign missions had been covered and all exit and entry points were being watched by security personnel.

He said that soon after receipt of the intelligence reports, chief of Islamabad capital territory police Chaudhry Iftikhar called a meeting at his office to review the situation.

As part of the security arrangements, CCTV cameras had been installed at important installations and patrolling had been increased, the officer added.
