KARACHI, June 8: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim said on Thursday that the annual budget of Sindh for the year 2006-07 would be presented in the Provincial Assembly on June 15.

He was talking to the media after inaugurating the office of Saudi Airlines in Karachi.

Chief Minister reiterated that the next Sindh budget would be tax-free and people-friendly with huge allocations for development sector so that the province could be put on path of progress and prosperity.

To a question, Arbab Rahim said that he has already issued a policy statement with regard to Karachi villages according to which no village would be demolished.

To another query, he viewed that the police could arrest any person of 17-years of age if he is involved in crime, however, he would look into it if the police have committed atrocity with any one.

Responding to yet another question, the chief minister said he had repeatedly clarified that the jobs would only be given on merit. When I say 'merit', it means only that person could get a job who qualifies test/interview.Arbab Rahim opined that education quality in Sindh still needs to be improved so that our youth could seek jobs without any political recommendations.

To a question he said that stern action would be taken to bring the tribal clashes to an end in the province. Later, the chief minister attended the lunch hosted by Saudi Consul General.—PPI
