KARACHI, June 7: While lauding the role of Arts Council of Pakistan for promotion of arts and culture, Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman has said that Sindh government will take concrete steps aimed at integrating people’s aesthetic sense and inculcating artistic taste.

All programmes arranged by the Arts Council including the weekly event of Koocha-i-Saqafat possess great significance in the realm of arts and culture, he said while talking to a council’s delegation comprising its Vice-President Saifur Rehman Grami, Secretary Aniq Ahmed and Treasurer Rizwan Siddiqui.

The delegation appreciated the cooperation and support of Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal.

Referring to the governor’s announcement for establishment of a housing society for the members of Arts Council, they asked the chief secretary for cooperation with regard to implementation of necessary regulations and completion of the scheme.

Meanwhile, the chief secretary also chaired a meeting of cultural heritage advisory committee in which well-known Architect Arif Hasan was nominated as Convener of Technical Sub-Committee and Kaleemullah Lashari as its Joint Convener.

Sindh Culture Secretary Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, Additional Secretary Rabia Johri Agha, KBCA Deputy Chief Rauf Akhtar Farooqui were also present on the occasion. –APP
