ISLAMABAD, May 28: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Moham-mad Ali Durrani has criticised former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s statement that he was unaware of the Kargil incident.

He said the former prime minister in his interview with an Indian news agency had not only distorted facts about the Kargil issue but had also violated the oath that he had taken as prime minister.

In a statement issued here, Senator Durrani said that Mr Sharif’s statement was actually an invitation to India to interfere in the internal affairs of Pakistan.

“Nawaz Sharif was fully aware of the whole scenario, but now his allegations are a reflection of his petty personal motives. He is trying to falsify the truth by using the Indian media,” he said.

The minister said the ex-premier had been continuously informed about the Kargil operation and he had inspected the forward bases in the Northern Areas during the Kargil incident.—APP
