MIRPURKHAS, May 28: President of the Railways Workers Federation Manzoor Ahmed Razi on Sunday urged the government to lift ban on recruitment in the department and appoint children of retired employees on merit.

In a press statement, he called upon the government to allot railway lands to employees, lift ban on trade union and hold referendum.

He regretted that the railways hospitals were in a shambles and called for improving them and providing sufficient quantites of medicines.

Mr Razi urged the federal railways minister to raise the number of bogies in Thar Express and attach it a lower air-conditioned bogie so that passengers could travel in ease during summer.

He demanded water coolers at the Zero Point and Mirpurkhas railway stations, enlargement of passenger room and platform at Zero Point, special heat allowance for employees performing duties from Mirpurkhas to Khokhropar and raise in their salary.

DCO: District Coordination Officer Syed has asked the executive district officers to take necessary measures to keep prices of daily commodities under control.

He directed the deputy district officers (DDOs) of revenue to conduct raids on the traders who were found demanding exorbitant prices for daily-use items and fine them.
