KARACHI, May 24: The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf has wondered that despite spending billions of rupees on development packages for Karachi, no improvement in any public facility could be brought in any part of the city.

Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday, chief of the PTI’s Karachi division Mohammad Ashraf Qureshi pointed out the people were continuing to suffer on account of frequent power failures, water shortage and deteriorating law and order situation.

While sky-rocketing prices had already made people’s life miserable, the campaign of razing villages was rendering people shelterless in this sultry weather conditions, he observed.

He pointed out that the uncertainty created by the rift between the provincial and city governments had further increasing the unrest in the province.

Mr Qureshi cautioned that people were losing patience and they might take to the street if the situation continued to aggravate.

He appealed to people to join the PTI which guaranteed restoration of the country’s prestige and prosperity and people’s honour and dignity, as well as everyone’s excess to cheap and quick justice.

He announced that PTI chief Imran Khan would launch the party’s membership campaign in Karachi on Thursday. In this connection, a camp would be set up near Al-Asif Square, Super Highway, where a ceremony to kick off the three-month drive would be held at 6pm.

Mr Qureshi said that 12 camps were being set up in different parts of the city for the purpose.

During his stay in the city, Imran Khan would offer Juma prayers at the New Memon Masjid, Boulton Market, he added.

Jawwad Jilani, Riaz Effendi, Mohammad Ali, Javed Alam Rajput and other PTI leaders were present on the occasion.
