KARACHI, April 15: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal on Saturday said anti-Islam, anti-Pakistan and anti-people forces, who wanted to target Karachi, were behind the Nishtar Park tragedy.

Addressing a high-level meeting held to review the prevailing situation, he said despite this conspiracy, people’s spirit was high. He said safety would be provided to the life and property of citizens and for their bright future, all uplift schemes would be completed.

He said that the administration had started a speedy uplift process under which, for the first time in history of Pakistan, three underpasses were being completed in four months along with the construction of flyovers and revamping of water and sewerage system.

He pointed out that a heavy foreign investment was pouring in, indicating that Rs85 billion foreign investment was involved in three mega projects that would be completed in the next three years. These projects included Elevated Expressway, Mass Transit Programme’s Corridor-II and the ADB-funded Rs24 billion projects.

Mr Kamal said Karachi was becoming an ‘expo city’ and its enemies could not tolerate its progress.

He said that Nishtar Park blast was aimed at blocking this progress. This conspiracy was not aimed against Karachi alone, but the whole of Pakistan.
