Addressing a big demonstration outside the Bait-ul-Mukarrum mosque in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Friday, they expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the province, particularly in Karachi, and demanded the removal of Sindh governor and home minister.
They also condemned the government for ignoring repeated incidents of lawlessness, killings and terrorism activities.
The demonstration was held in connection with the countrywide protest day observed by the MMA and the Jamaat Ahle Sunnat on Friday to protest and mourn the death of ulema and leaders of Ahle Sunnat and others, who were killed in a tragic bomb blast during a Rabiul Awwal congregation on April 11 at the Nishtar Park in Karachi.
Participants of the rally chanted slogans against the bombing incident and expressed their anguish over the government’s alleged failure in protecting the lives of people.
The banners and placards held by party activists were inscribed with slogans, demanding immediate removal of Sindh government, its governor and home minister.
Those who spoke during the protest demonstration included Amir Jamaat-i-Islami Karachi Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui, Maulana Abdul Karim Abid, Allama Hasan Turabi, Qazi Ahmad Noorani, Nasrullah Shajji and Younus Barai.
Dr Huda said the Tahaffuz-i-Namoos-i-Mustafa (SAW) movement cannot be stopped by conspirators and will continue at all costs, as the Muslim Ummah was united as ever.
He said peace in the city was not possible till the time the Sindh governor and home minister were removed.
He said America and its allies were trying to create a gulf between Muslims to shatter the unity of the Muslim Ummah, “but it should be known by all quarters that no conspiracy against the ummah will materialize at any stage”.
Maulana Abdul Karim said the government had made the common man’s life insecure, as lawlessness, killings and terrorism incidents had become a routine in the city.
Declaring the Nishtar Park blast a suicidal attack was nothing but a conspiracy planned not by an individual but by a group, which wanted to destroy peace of the city, he added.
Allama Hasan Turabi said America through its agents had penetrated the country and wanted to dismantle the prevailing peace among the Muslim Ummah. “However, the MMA along with the people declares to wage an open war against American agents, and will not allow any conspiracy against Islam and its peaceful followers,” he said.
Nasrullah Shajji said the Nishtar Park incident was a glaring example of target killing.
