Unemployed teenager commits suicide

DADU, April 5: A jobless youth committed suicide here on Wednesday while another unemployed man and his wife were admitted to hospital following attempts made by them to kill themselves. Sources said that Mazhar Ali Memon, 18, had a bitter argument with his parents over deepening financial problems because of his unemployment before he took pesticide and died in his house in the Memon Mohallah of Bhan Syedabad town.

In the other incident at the Mallah Chowk locality of Dadu, Iqbal Ahmed Mallah, 28, attempted to commit suicide by taking pesticide owing to some domestic problem.

The sources said that Iqbal, a graduate, had approached various departments but failed to get a job.

As he decided to end his life at the peak of quarrel, his wife followed suit and also took pesticide.

Both were taken to civil hospital where her condition is reported to be serious.

SUSPENDED: The services of District Food Controller Mohammed Haroon Rajpar were placed under suspension for unlawfully releasing bardana to a wheat trader.

Imran Ahmed Khero has been posted as the new DFC. A senior food officer, Ghulam Murtaza, has been assigned to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
