KARACHI, April 5: The Adviser to Prime Minister on Women Development, Senator Nilofer Bakhtiar, on Wednesday announced that a Women’s Expo will be organised from April 13 to 16 with women representation from all four provinces.

Addressing a news conference, Nilofer said Pakistani women were making significant progress in every sphere of life.

The present government, she said, believed that there was a great need to portray the positive side of the country’s women such as their participation and contribution to various walks of life, she added.

For that they need a single platform where they can meet, discuss their issues, vocalize their concerns, celebrate their achievements, make efforts for women development and empowerment, and highlight their contribution to society, she said.

The adviser said the Women’s Expo was one such platform where over 100,000 Pakistani women were expected to gather to celebrate their identity that will entail their happiness, accomplishment of milestones and empowerment as a member of society.

Bakhtiar said the Ministry of Women Development had taken the initiative by holding the Women’s Expo.

One of the salient features of the four-day event will include allocation of a hall named ‘Hunarmand’ for the women of all four provinces to exhibit their items prepared at home or in the country’s cottage industries.

Thus the less privileged segment of women workers would be provided representation as well as due encouragement.

Arrangements would also be made to run a train from Peshawar to Karachi to display such works. It will leave Peshawar on April 11 reaching Karachi the next day.

Seminars, workshops as well as training sessions would be organised during the Women’s Expo, the organisers said. A day-long conference would also be organised during the event.

Nilofer said there would be 400 booths at the Women’s Expo including 200 for the cottage industry, 100 for the corporate sector and 100 for women entrepreneurs. A food street will also be set up at the exhibition.—APP
