JI chief’s remand extended

LAHORE, Feb 4: A special court comprising judge Maqbool Ahmad Bajwa extended on Monday the remand of Jamaat-i-Islami amir Qazi Husain Ahmad till Feb 9.

The JI leader was not produced before the court on accuont of being indisposed.

An application for bail in the case was, meanwhile, moved in the court of a magistrate. It will come up for hearing on Feb 7.

The JI leader has been arrested in connection with a case registered at the Garden Town police station in connection with the demonstrations against Indian Prime Minister Vajpayee’s visit. — Reporter
