VEHARI, Feb 4: Women councillors have complained of non-cooperation from their male colleagues besides ignoring them in various sub-committees formed from time to time to run the council affairs.
A number of women councillors told this scribe on Monday that they were not even allowed to speak or move their resolutions in the sessions. As a result of this attitude, they claimed, most of their grievances remained unresolved.
They said they repeatedly tried to draw the attention of Nazim and Naib Nazim to the problems in their constituencies but to no avail.
Sajida Norin from Mailsi claimed that whenever she tried to table a resolution regarding the issues in her constituency, she was discouraged. “Neither my resolution was accepted nor grievances redressed,” she said.
Shamaila Aslam from Vehari said when she tried to table a resolution against police, her colleagues paid no attention to her.
JIHADI OUTFITS: Intelligence agencies started collecting details about various banned jihadi outfits in the district.
They are seeking information about their bank accounts, income and expenditures, and properties of their office-bearers.
Police and other agencies raided the offices of Lashkar-i-Taiba, Jaish-i-Muhammad and Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan and took their record into custody.
It is reported that the offices of these outfits in the rural areas were also raided.
