NAWABSHAH, March 20: Activists of the Pakistan People’s Party-SB held a demonstration and observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Monday in protest against bulldozing of old villages of Sindhis in Karachi.
The protesters were carrying placards and raising slogans against the city district government of Karachi.
They said the Sindh government and its allies were bulldozing old villages but workers of the PPP-SB would foil the move.
They said Sindhi senators and assembly members should consider the situation and they must be loyal to the nation, otherwise they would not be forgiven. The activists urged them to join the struggle against the conspiracy to destroy Sindhis’ villages.
SUKKUR: Activists of the Pakistan People’s Party-SB took out a procession and held a demonstration outside the Ghotki Press Club on Monday in protest against demolition of villages in Karachi.
The protesters, led by Mian Rasheed, marched through main streets of the city while raising slogans against the Sindh government. They reached the press club where they held the demonstration.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rasheed condemned the demolition of villages and termed it a conspiracy to convert Sindhis into a minority in the province.
He demanded rehabilitation of affected villagers and payment of compensation to them.
HYDERABAD: The Hatri investigation police on Sunday picked-up six villagers following registration of two cases against them on Saturday as highways department tried to secure possession of its land, reports our correspondent.
Those who were picked-up included Gulzar, Hajjan, Fateh Mohammad, Khan Mohammad and two others, an investigation police official said.
The Hatri police had lodged two separate FIRs against them vide crime Nos. 16 and 17. The cases were lodged on the complaint of sub-engineer Javed Sheikh and security guard of Isra university hospital Naseem Akhtar.
On Saturday a large number of residents of the Ismail Chand Village and its adjoining localities blocked a section of the National Highway in front of Isra university against demolition of their constructions by highways department.
