HYDERABAD, March 18: Sindh Jamaat-i-Islami Ameer Dr Mumtaz Ali Memon has announced that the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal will take out a ‘Shan-i-Mustafa’ procession from Mirpurkhas up to Hyderabad on March 26 against publication of blasphemous cartoons.

He was speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Saturday. He was accompanied by Maulana Abdul Waheed Qureshi, Shaikh Shaukat Ali and other party leaders.

Dr Memon said the protest movement would continue till enforcement of Nizam-i-Mustafa, restoration of the constitution and democracy and end of dictatorship. He said Muslims could tolerate all excesses but they would never tolerate any attack on their faith and Namoos-i-Risalat.

He demanded that the government should officially expel ambassadors of European countries where blasphemous cartoons had been published and recall own diplomats from these countries. He said import and export trade with these countries should also be stopped forthwith.

The JI leader said the MMA would not compromise on the issues and would continue the protest movement throughout the country. He said the March 26 procession was in furtherance of these objectives. He said the procession would be led by central and provincial leaders of the MMA who would address a public meeting at the Hyder Chowk in the evening.

He alleged that the US on the one hand was using Muslim countries as front line states and trying to take over the wealth and natural resources of the countries and on the other hand, it was trying to destroy Islamic values and spreading secularism in an organized manner. He said the US was interfering in political and economic policies and the Muslim culture and wanted to change the educational syllabus.

He said that by publishing blasphemous cartoons, Europe had demonstrated its narrow mindedness and enmity towards Islam. He claimed that blasphemous cartoons had not been published for the first time but it had been done on several occasions which was a challenge to the Muslim world.
