Voting age to remain 21 years

ISLAMABAD, Oct 16: The voters age limit in the general elections will remain 21 years, the steering committee of the project for reconstituting the Election Commission of Pakistan to strengthen it administratively and financially has decided, officials said here on Tuesday.

The first meeting of steering committee of the project, “Supporting Democratic Electoral Commission of Pakistan (SDECP)”, here was presided over by EC Secretary Hasan Mohammad.

Project Director Kanwar Dilshad highlighted achievements of the project.

The meeting noted with satisfaction the participation of women in the local government polls and expressed the hope that they would participate in the general polls with same zeal and enthusiasm.

The meeting was informed of the need for training of EC staff at all levels and computerisation of the commission at the district level.

The meeting was also attended by the UNDP Resident Representative Onder Yucer.
