SHEIKHUPURA, March 11: Police claimed to have killed three proclaimed offender in an encounter late on Friday night. Sangla Hill Saddar police said they were informed that some outlaws had shot injured one Shahid Ali of Chak No 117, Bado Malhi, when he resisted their bid to snatch his motorcycle.
The outlaws, later identified as Bashir, sohail and Qamar, also injured two farmers Zaheer and Javaid Iqbal who had rushed to the spot after hearing shots.
A police party reached the spot and ordered the outlaws to surrender. Instead, the outlaws allegedly opened fire on the police, which retaliated the fire, killing all of them on the spot.
The police claimed that the killed outlaws were wanted in at least 18 cases, including those of murder, robbery and kidnap for ransom. They also claimed to have recovered two motorcycles and some sophisticated weapons from their possession.
TWO KILLED: Two motorcyclist were killed by highway robbers in a dacoity bid in Sharqpur police station precinct on Saturday.
According to reports, Ashfaq and Tufail, who resided at Jogiwala village, were on their way home when near Pharianwala three robbers stopped them and tried to pounce on the valuables they had.
On resistance, the robbers opened fire on the motorcyclists who breathed their last on way to hospital.
Area police are investigating.
