KARACHI, March 2: Two ships carrying 24,800 tons of sugar are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources. Six more vessels with raw jute, chemicals and containers are also due on Friday and are expected to get berths along with those, which will unload sugar on priority basis, they added.
Berthing activity at the wharves was active where seven ships, Hyundai Stride, Kota Tabah, to unload and load containers, Poppy to offload crude oil, Thor Nautilus, Pacific Express, Delfinaloi to unload and load general cargo, Monaque, to load rice were berthed after the departure of four.
The ships, which departed were led by Kota Mesra, APL Pusan, Satha Bhum and Sea Brilliance, while Global Princess, Global Express, Poppy, Thor Captain, Bolan and Kota Tabah are due to sail out on Friday.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves was on the higher side where a total tonnage of 0.109m tons comprising 23,640 tons of export cargo including 7,071 tons of rice and 85,682 tons of import tonnage was handled.
The following ships are due on Friday: Banglar Mamata, with 7,608 tons of raw jute, Rosomanee, with chemicals, Conti Esperance, Mearsk Alabma and Kota Merdesa, with containers, Rain Bow Spring, Phuong Dong-3, with 10,800 and 14,000 tons of white sugar and African Pythoa, with steel cargo.
