MANSEHRA, Feb 2: The traffic remained suspended on the Kashmir Road here for about two hours, as the traders blocked it in protest against the growing incidents of theft in Mansehra.
They were protesting against the theft incident of Wednesday night in which the thieves entered into a shoe shop on Kashmir Road and took away with them dozens of pairs of shoes. The thieves also tried to enter into the adjacent jewellers’ shop but failed in their attempt due to the iron bars fixed in the wall.
Speaking to the protesters, the traders representatives Shaikh Mohammad Iqbal, Abdul Malik Saraf and Mohammad Fiyaz Sulehriya flayed the city police for not protecting the property of the people.
They said just a few weeks ago a theft incident of similar nature took place on Kashmir Road in which a jeweller was robbed of gold and silver ornaments worth lakhs of rupees of which police have not find any clue as yet.
