SIALKOT, Feb 20: The UAE-based international airline APA and the Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding regarding early provision of cargo facilities and passenger services at the airport.
APA’s managing director Pervaiz Ansari, SIAL’s chief executive Khawar Anwar Khwaja and chairman Babar Iqbal inked the MoU.
Addressing the participants, Pervaiz Ansari said the UAE-based airline would provide quick cargo service at Sialkot airport, besides generating a cargo capacity of 40 to 50 ton daily through Kabul, Sialkot and Sharjah.
He said this airline had also offered to launch a parallel passenger and cargo service from Sialkot airport to all main international routes.
Khawar Anwar and Babar Iqbal said the Sialkot airport would become operational in June. They said the Pakistan International Airlines, Air Blue, TCS and DHL had also announced launching of their passenger and cargo services at the Sialkot airport.
Later, APA’s officials visited the site of under-construction airport near Sambrial.
