HYDERABAD, Feb 20: The first ever food testing laboratory will be set up in the city next month to check adulteration of different commodities. This was stated by District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil while inaugurating a road scheme from Shadman palace to Bab-i-Mustafa Chowk in Latifabad on Monday.

He said that action would be taken against those who sold adulterated items and played with the lives of the people.

The nazim said that the district government was fully committed to provide all basic facilities to the people.

He said a plan had been made and very soon a trauma centre would be established in the city where all emergency cases of accident would be dealt.

He said that almost all the main roads of the city would be constructed through asphalt technology before 2007 and Latifabad would be made a model taluka.

He said that a safari park would be constructed on 200 acres and an amusement park would also be constructed with modern facilities to provide recreational facilities to families.

He said that under-construction asphalt road would be completed at a cost of Rs20 million and all departments had been asked to complete ground works before the construction.

He called upon the people to cooperate with the district government and keep their areas neat and clean.

He said that tenders for standby generators at each pumping station of water supply and sewerage system at a cost of Rs170 million would be issued today and after installation there would be no problem of drinking water and discharge of sewerage during the failure of electricity in the city.

He said that work on five water supply schemes was in progress.

He said that previous governments had ignored the district and deprived the people of basic facilities.

Latifabad Taluka Nazim Sabir Hussain Qaimkhani said that the district government was launching development schemes within its limited funds and resources for the betterment of general public without any discrimination.

EDO works & services Abdul Haleem Ghouri highlighted salient features of the scheme.

The nazim also inaugurated a development scheme of reconditioning of road from Noorani Basti bridge chowk to maternity hospital in Pareetabad.

PAF: The Pakistan Air Force Information and Section Centre has announced that registration for induction of GD pilot and aeronautical engineer will be held at the centre from February 20 to March 10.

According to eligibility criteria, candidates must be unmarried and between age of 16 to 22 years.

The interviewed candidates who are intermediate in pre-medical, pre-engineering or computer science with minimum 50 per cent marks are eligible to apply for general duty pilot and those who have either matriculated in the first division or intermediate in pre-engineering with minimum 60 per cent marks are eligible to apply for aeronautical engineering.

However, those candidates who are appearing in final examination of intermediate are also eligible to apply for the same on the condition of producing confirmation certificate from their respective institutes for getting or passing final examination of intermediate with 60 per cent marks.

Interested candidates have been advised to bring original and photocopy of mark sheets of matriculation and intermediate, certificate of matriculation and intermediate, four passport size photographs and computerized identity card or form B at the time of examination to be held on March 12 at the Public School Latifabad-3 at 7am.

MUET: Under academic linkage agreement between the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro and Leeds University UK, Dr John A Tinker of the University of Leeds called on Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan Rajput, vice-chancellor of the MUET here on Monday.

They discussed matters of mutual interests.

The vice-chancellor gave details about teaching and academic activities, teaching staff and students.

The vice-chancellor briefed the visiting scholar about syllabus as well as research activates at faculty level and co-curricular activities for students.

Dr John A Tinker was introduced to the faculty and officials at a welcome ceremony.

Dr Tinker visited MUET library and online information centre as part of linkage between the University of Leeds and MUET.
