HYDERABAD, Feb 19: Protest demonstrations continued in all districts of Sindh on Sunday against publication of blasphemous cartoons in European newspapers.
In Hyderabad, a complete strike was observed in the area of Hussainabad.
Residents of the Bhittai town in Qasimabad took out a protest rally which terminated at the press club.
Hilal-i-Ahmer and Tamir-i-Pakistan Organization also staged protest rallies outside the press club.
Meanwhile, security was beefed up in Hyderabad and other towns following a ban on rallies in Islamabad and arrests of MMA leaders.
SUKKUR: Different political and religious parties organized three big protest rallies on Sunday against the publication of the blasphemous caricatures.
A big rally of women organized by the Jamat-i-Islami was also taken out which marched on various roads and staged a sit-in in front of the press club.
TANDO MOHAMMAD KHAN: A complete strike was observed in Bulri Shah Karim on the call of JUI-F and other religious and traders’ organizations.
Protesters staged a two-hour sit-in at the bus stop as a result of which vehicular traffic remained suspended.
Jamat Jilani Qadri Ahl-i-Sunnat also held a rally against the publication.
KHAIRPUR: On the call of Anjuman Tajiran-i-Khairpur and religious organizations, a complete shutter down strike was observed in Khairpur on Sunday.
All markets of the city remained closed and transport remained suspended.
Rickshaw and Tanga Associations also joined the strike.
Students and youngsters took out a procession for about three hours.
SANGHAR: Protests against the blasphemous caricatures continued in peripheries of the district on Sunday.
At Dhalyar near Khipro, 80 kilometres away from here, a procession was taken out.
