KARACHI, Feb 17: Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal, accompanied by DCO Fazlur Rehman on Friday visited various areas of Landhi and Bin Qasim towns to inspect the ongoing development schemes and issued directives for removing encroachments from the project sites.
He reviewed the transport problems arising out of the uplift work and inspected the under-construction bridge between National Highway and Mehran Highway.
He ordered immediate removal of the encroachments hampering the development work in the area between Hospital Chowrangi and Mehran Highway.
The city nazim also visited Shah Latif Town and emphasised the need for a bridge on National Highway. He asked the EDO Works & Services to get consultancy for the same done.
During the inspection of work on Quaidabad Bridge, he was apprised of traffic problems there, and after considering various suggestions, he asked the DCO to take up the same on a priority basis to provide relief to people.
He called for making arrangements for a joint visit of all those stakeholders bearing expenditure on these projects.
He said the provincial government, traffic police and city district government should take steps towards resolving the traffic problems caused by development the schemes of 8,000 Road, 12,000 Road, National Highway and Mehran Highway.
During his four-hour visit, the nazim met local people and told them that the city government was acting promptly to provide due facilities to common man. Besides water and sewerage problems, he added, cleanliness and sanitation was being paid attention and the conditions would improve in the next few weeks.
He said that the purpose of his surprise visit was to assess and look into the problems being caused by the execution of development schemes. Decisions would be taken at a higher level in this regard soon, he said.
He assured them that he would again visit the areas along with the officials concerned so that decisions could be taken on the spot.—APP
