KARACHI, Oct 16: People, visiting the driving licence branch in Clifton are disappointed after having learned about the non-availability of licence forms and licences.
Sources in the police said the people had been faced with the problem for the past 10-12 days as the driving licence branch was unable to issue the licences and had been asking the visiting applicants to visit again in a day or two.
Exchange of hot words was witnessed between the officials and the applicants who stood in dire need of international licences before leaving the country.
The sources said the blank licences and their forms were usually printed at the Pakistan Security Printing Press and a requisition for 500 blank licences and their forms were sent to the printing press, but they had not been printed as yet.
An applicant said: “I am in need of the international driving licence and have come here twice, but the officials refuse to issue the driving licence saying that the forms are not available.”
The international driving licences were earlier issued by district magistrates who ceased to hold their offices on August 14. Now the traffic police and the DIG traffic and highways have been assigned the signing authority of international licences.
The applicants have to visit the driving licence branch in Clifton to get the licence, after fulfilling the formalities.
